Neutral absorber dips in the periodic burster LMXB XB 1323 - 619 from Suzaku
We present results of an observation with Suzaku of the dipping, periodic bursting low mass X-ray binary XB 1323-619. Using the energy band 0.8-70 keV, we show that the source spectrum is well-described as the emission of an extended accretion disk corona, plus a small contribution of blackbody emission from the neutron star. The dip spectrum is well-fitted by the progressive covering model in ...
متن کاملAn X - ray study of the dipping low mass X - ray binary XB 1323 − 619
During a BeppoSAX observation of the lowmass X-ray binary dip source XB1323−619 a total of 10 type I X-ray bursts and parts of 12 intensity dips were observed. During non-bursting, non-dipping intervals, the 1.0–150 keV BeppoSAX spectrum can be modelled by a cutoff power-law with a photon index of 1.48± 0.01, a cutoff energy of 44.1 −4.4 keV together with a blackbody with kT of 1.77± 0.25 keV c...
متن کاملA study of the spectral evolution during dipping in XB 1323–619 with Rossi-XTE and BeppoSAX
We report results from analysis of the observations of the dipping low mass X-ray binary XB 1323−619 made with BeppoSAX and Rossi-XTE. The dust-scattered halo contributes significantly in this source, and the observation made with BeppoSAX on 1997 August was used to provide MECS radial intensity profiles at several energies. From these, the halo fractions were obtained and thus an optical depth...
متن کاملUnderstanding the LMXB X 2127 + 119 in M 15 I . X - ray eclipses and dips
We present X-ray observations of the high-inclination low-mass X-ray binary system X2127+119 (AC211) in the globular cluster M15 (NGC 7078). The observations consist of data acquired in 1996 with the RXTE satellite and in 1995 with the ASCA satellite. Also, the MPC1 data from the 1988 GINGA observations were de-archived and re-analysed. The phase-folded 2-10 keV hardness ratios from all three m...
متن کاملPostburst Quasi-periodic Oscillations from Gro J1744228 and from the Rapid Burster
The repetitive X-ray bursts from the accretion-powered pulsar GRO J1744228 show similarities to the type II X-ray bursts from the Rapid Burster. Several authors (notably, Lewin et al.) have suggested that the bursts from GRO J1744228 are type II bursts (which arise from the sudden release of gravitational potential energy). In this paper, we present another similarity between these sources. Ros...
